Why Music & Why Marketing?

At 16-years-old, I had dreams of launching a record label that allowed artists to retain the rights to their masters. At 18-years-old, I did just that. Paradyne Records was founded in 2008, which represented a handful of artists from Florida and Georgia and released a compilation album entitled, Acoustic Transitions, Vol. 1. Fast-forward many years later, I find myself full-circle: still advocating for artists. However, I have also obtained over a decade of experience working with artists in all stages of their career, promoting their concerts and their record releases. Having moved my way through Sony Music Entertainment, Live Nation Entertainment, and Orlando’s largest venues, I have secured promotion in almost all areas of the entertainment industry. Most recently, I have consulted with independent artists who are looking for ways to promote their music and looking for the secret to cutting through the noise to build a fan base and get their music into the ears of today’s most avid listeners. While I still can’t share that secret (and I am not sure if anyone can), I thought that writing somewhat of a marketing handbook would help independent artists get a little closer to cracking that code. It is not only a tool for me to reflect on many years of marketing experience, it is also a tool I hope will help independent artists share their music and connect with their biggest fans.
